It's hot!

We asked for it and we finally got it! It's hot! I love summer because of its colors...bold greens, bright blues, warm reds, yellows and oranges abound. Everything is alive. So, let's celebrate our better-late-than-never summer weather by taking a look at the "hot" color trends for summer...now that it's finally here.

As always, color trends in fashion are reflected in interior design and vice versa. Every year Pantone releases its "hot" color lists with a color being named "Color of the Year" (for more information on Pantone visit www.pantone.com). This year's Spring-Summer colors are shown below...along with the 2010 favorite, Turquoise. Other Pantone winners include Tomato Puree, Fusion Coral, Violet, Tuscany, Aurora, Amparo Blue, Pink Champagne, Dried Herb and Eucalyptus.

 

Each season after Fashion Week in New York, Pantone releases a color wheel based on colors used by the showing designers. These designers bring splashes of color to the runway for 2010. Vibrant bright tones add excitement while new neutrals allow consumers to feel practical as well. We all want to be practical (especially now) but when summer arrives no one is in the mood to pull out their go-to neutrals from our closets. And when we get the overwhelming urge to paint, we aren't looking for safe. We want some life...but we always feel the pull to balance practicality.
